MIDDLESEX - Eli David "Smokey" Medlin, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. A graveside funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, at Bunn-Alford-Upchurch cemetery.

A native of Wake County, he spent his life in Franklin County. He was son to the late Eli and Madie Lenore Cone Medlin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gail West Medlin.

Surviving: son, David Carlton Medlin (fiancé Carolyn Ransdell) of Louisburg; daughters, Melissa Gail Warren (Ken) of Middlesex, Shannon Renee Benson (Daniel) of Zebulon, Pamela Lynn Rogers (Wilbur) of Bailey, siblings Jackie Medlin (Janelle), Donnie Medlin, Ardelia Brown (Ray), all of Pilot, Madene Jones (Sam) of Spring Hope; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
