FRANKLINTON--William "Jay" Moore Jr., 51, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 at home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church cemetery in Franklinton with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 21, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel, 504 East Mason Street, Franklinton.

He was born in Durham County to the late William Moore Sr. and Mary Jane Castle Kearney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Ann Moore, and his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Ruby Castle.

Surviving: son, Ryan Jay Moore of Franklinton; daughter, Kristin Marie Moore of Charlotte; sister, Elizabeth (Lane) Ray; stepfather, Jimmie Kearney; his former wife and mother of his children, Scarlet P. Moore, all of Franklinton; stepbrothers, Jimmie Kearney Jr. (Debbie) of Castalia, Ronnie Kearney (Candy), and Ricky Kearney, all of Garner; aunt and uncle, niece and nephews, two great-nephews, and numerous cousins.
