LOUISBURG - Elizabeth Winn May, 100, of Louisburg, died Tuesday morning.

Mrs. May was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ethel Malone Winn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis May; sister, Mary Ethel Winn; brothers, Joe Winn and Bobby Winn.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. May is survived by her son, Bo May; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Brian Rogers, all of Louisburg; sister, Emily Mooza of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Katherine Rogers, Jack Rogers, Donovan Rogers and Erin May.

Mrs. May spent a lifetime in service to others. She worked as a nurse. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was actively involved in church and community service. Mrs. May was a founding member of the Person Place Society, the Ingleside Community Club, and the Ingleside Lioness Club. She organized the community to make "Ugly Quilts" for the homeless; she provided the recipe for the Person Place Society annual Brunswick Stew fundraiser, as well as working tirelessly on the project. Mrs. May was twice awarded a state Volunteer of the Year award by the governor.
