WILLIE LEE BASS


FRANKLINTON-- Willie Lee Bass, 72, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at the Hock Family Pavilion of Durham. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 14, at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Youngsville, with the Rev. Samuel T. Tunstall officiating.

He was born to the late Deacon Donald Bass and Deaconess Hellen Lucille Bass of Franklin County.

He was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Youngsville, and served as a trustee and member of the Male Chorus. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. After serving in the Army, he returned to work at Murdoch Center, retiring with 33 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Toni Angela Bass Cutchins; sister, Lorraine "Tussey" Bass Jones; brothers, Donald "Pete" Bass, McArthur "Mack" Yarbough, Jimmy Bass, Larry Bass and Ricky "Skipper" Bass.

Surviving: wife, Linda "Nell" Bass of the home; daughter, Tabitha Collette Lindqvist of Richmond Hills, Ga.; sisters, Brenda Crump of Raleigh and JoAnn Watson of Franklinton; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
