BENJAMIN B. MASSENBURG III


MAUI, HI - Benjamin Ballard Massenburg III, 94, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his son's home in Kula under hospice care. The family will have a private ceremony in May.

He was born in Louisburg in 1921. He served in the 82nd Airborne and 38th Infantry Division in WWII, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Together with his wife and another couple, he created a business in Norfolk, Va., called Finch Massenburg Carpets. He retired to Maui in 2006 and lived for 10 years at Kalama Heights Retirement Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie.

Surviving: sister, Ruby Gray Hinson; son, Ben (Juliana); daughter, Anne Davidson (Mark); and four grandchildren.
