LOUISBURG - Doris Thompson Shearin, 96, died Sunday night, May 29, 2016 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Saints Delight Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a daughter of the late Sam and Cora T. Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Shearin; sisters, Vernelle Shelhander and Magdalene Seaman; brothers, Linwood Thompson, Sam Thompson, Archie Thompson and Theodore Thompson.

Surviving: daughter, Joan S. (Jimmy) Keith; sons, Eldridge (Lisa) Shearin, Freddie Shearin, Michael (Pam) Shearin, all of Louisburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
