HENDERSON-Luther Afton Cottle Jr., 77, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016. Services will be private.

He was born in Onslow County to the late Julia Pittman and Luther A. Cottle Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Loftin Cottle.

Surviving: his wife, Dorothy M. Nidiffer Cottle; sons, Tim Davison and Lawrence (Sherry) Cottle; sisters, Dorine Settlemeyer, and Ruby Stephens; brother, Larry Cottle; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kinston. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired district manager for Roses.
