FRANKLINTON - James Howard Conyers, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Duke Regional Hospital. Funeral service was held at Popes Chapel Christian Church on Monday, Nov. 28, with the Rev. Don Ward officiating. Burial was private.

He was born to the late Hayward Ballard and Beulah Hight Conyers. He was a retired district director for crop insurance with the USDA. His farm was listed as a Century Family Farm in North Carolina. He was on the Board of Directors with Wake Electric for 40 years.

Surviving: wife, Lorena Yeargin Conyers; daughter, Jane Martin (Glenn); two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by sisters Evelyn Pitt and Lena Lewis.
