FRANKLIN LEO SHOOK

Franklin Leo Shook and the late Patricia Shook

LOUISBURG - Franklin Leo Shook peacefully met his Heavenly Father on January 7, 2017. He and his lovely wife, Patricia, had a home at Lake Royale in Bunn. Shortly after Patricia lost her battle with cancer and ALS, Frank suffered several strokes. He resided at Louisburg Assisted Living for many years, then Louisburg Nursing Center for the remainder of his life.

Estelle and Raymond Shook of Anniston, Ala., preceded their son in death, in addition to his wife, Patricia, of 20 years.

Surviving: Aunt, Ann Beasley and daughter Barbara Ponder; uncles, Hugo and Carlos Herren, all of Alabama; Patricia's family: InaDell and Bruce Vaughan, Wesley, Vickie, Dustin and Hunter Vaughan of Zebulon; Sherry and Melvin Bell of Louisburg.

Mr. Shook acquired a Batchelor of Science in History from Harding College, where he also played football. He received a Masters in Education Administration from Duke University and a minor in Theology. He served as principal at Zebulon Middle School. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed working with Vollmer Farms, gardening, golfing, tournament bowling and fishing. Frank enjoyed being involved in church activities.

He was a quiet, happy man and a full-spirited giver of himself to others. Those who knew him were blessed.

Frank's favorite visitors were his four-legged friends: LucyLou the Lab, MiniPearl the Golden Boxer, and Chaco the Chihauhau.

The Vaughans and Bells, as well as his family members in Alabama, would like to extend appreciation to the staff of Louisburg Assisted Living and Louisburg Nursing Center for their compassion and care.
