LOUISBURG--Richard William "Richie" Kirkman, 72, widower of Bernice Gannon Kirkman, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 6, at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg, with the Rev. Alan Skinner officiating.

He was known as "The Mower Man," as he was a small engine mechanic who could fix anything.

He was born in Elizabeth, N.J. to the late Edward and Francis Harker Kirkman. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Kirkman.

Surviving: daughter Dusty (Chris) Elwood; son, Lee (Melissa) Kirkman; brother, Tom Kirkman; sister, Claire Counterman; nine grandchildren; and four nieces.
