CASTALIA - Virginia Riggan Murphy, 78, of Castalia, passed away Saturday afternoon at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was the daughter of the late Roy William and Sallie Ann Jenkins Riggan. She was a member of Red Bud Baptist Church. She retired as the Assistant Register of Deeds of Nash County after 33 years of loyal service.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Red Bud Baptist Church Cemetery.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bobby L. Murphy; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Paula Murphy of Rocky Mount; many beloved cousins and friends.
