WILLIE B. ROBERTSON, March 6, 1927 - December 2, 2017

LOUISBURG - Willie Briggs Robertson, 90, of Louisburg, died Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2017.
Willie was a son of the late Meddie Lee and Nettie Briggs Robertson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith S. Robertson, sisters, Jeanette Hight, Sue Adams and Lula Proctor, and brother, M.L. Robertson.

Willie was a graduate of Louisburg High School and Louisburg College. He also attended the University of North Carolina.

He was a faithful and long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he took great pleasure and personal pride in grooming the church cemetery.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Willie was a member of American Legion Post 105 and also served in the North Carolina National Guard. Active in the Loyal Order of the Moose, he was a member of Lodge 2256.

Willie enjoyed a more than 45-year career as a real estate agent with Triangle Realty in Louisburg. Prior to that he managed a Piggly Wiggly grocery store and owned and operated a Buy-Lo Super Market.

Often described as a "people person," Willie was noted for never meeting a stranger and he strived to be a friend to all he met. He loved his family and friends - and his community. He also enjoyed line dancing, sometimes performing at nursing homes and street fairs, and he loved a friendly game of cards with his friends. He was active in serving his community for ten years through Meals on Wheels.

A humble, hard-working man, he brought a sense of joy and a generous spirit to everything and everyone he touched.

Willie is survived by his loving family: wife of 41 years, Dorothy "Dot" S. Robertson; son, Phillip Robertson of Louisburg; granddaughter, Foy Parker of Greensboro; brother and sister-in-law, Page and Johanna Robertson of Eugene, Oregon; and, many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pall bearers will be his nephews: Don Clapp, Alan Hahn, Benton Hight, Lee Hight, Billy T. Stanton and Tommy Tucker. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity U.M.C., 4272 US Hwy 401 N., Louisburg, NC 27549 or to the Kay Robertson Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 144, Louisburg, NC 27549.
