DORIS ANN PERRY KEARNEY

DORIS ANN PERRY KEARNEY

FRANKLINTON--Doris Ann Perry Kearney, 84, of Franklinton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2018. Doris was born on November 2, 1933 to the late Willie Graham Perry and Betty Lou Wilson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Perry "Junior"; her sister, Marie Perry; and her son, Phillip Kearney.

Ms. Kearney is survived by her husband, Bobby Kearney Sr.; her sons, Bobby Kearney (Carolyn) and Alan Kearney (Debbie); and her daughter, Eva Bett Kearney Privette (Jim); her seven grandchildren, Anita, Veronica, Julie, Vickie, Michael, Jeffery and Steven; and her great-grandchildren, Christina, Sheila, Cody, Sarah, Chad and Chandler; and her great-great-grandchildren, London, Colton and Brantley.

She loved her family. She loved cooking and being in the kitchen. Christmas was her favorite day of the year. She loved wrapping presents, sitting under the tree and handing them out one by one, smiling mischievously as we opened them. She taught us to be tough and to stand up for ourselves and for others. She taught us to be generous, to be selfless, to be proud and to be humble. She made a mean coconut pie, and she knew it. She lived through an earthquake, when she was a little girl living in San Diego. She was the shortest girl on her high school basketball team, but she played. She married her high school sweetheart. She was an entrepreneur, opening a beauty salon and two restaurants. She was a nurse and loved taking care of people. She was amazing at Wheel of Fortune and even better at Bingo. She was a fighter. She beat cancer, heart attacks and strokes, but she had a sweet tooth that she never beat. She taught us that a sense of humor could get us through almost anything.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00am at Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel, 504 East Mason Street, Franklinton, NC, with Pastor Spencer Strickland officiating.

Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
