WAKE FOREST - Vernell Gupton Raynor, 92, formerly of Raleigh, died Wednesday night, Sept. 19, 2018. A funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 22, at Centerville Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She was a daughter of the late Essie W. and Bonnie S. Gupton.

She was born and raised in Franklin County and graduated from Gold Sand High School and Hardbarger's Business College. She then went on to work in banking for 30 years.

Surviving: husband, Charlie Raynor; sister, Peggy Allen of Louisburg; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centerville Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 2370 Leonard Road, Louisburg or to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Building Fund, 8304 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC 27613.
