REA A. MANNING
CENTERVILLE--Euther Andrews Manning, 89, formerly of Centerville, departed this earthly life on Friday, September 28, 2018. She was born on November 3, 1928 to the late Eulis and Etta Radford Andrews. In addition to her parents, Euther was preceded in death by her loving husband, Esley M. Manning. Known to all as "Rea," she lived an enriched and full life. Rea attended Gold Sand High School and Louisburg College. Rea was a sweet and kind woman, a talented musician, an excellent cook, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rea was a lifelong member of Centerville Baptist Church, where she played the organ for more than 70 years. Rea also played the piano and organ for numerous funerals and weddings. She touched many lives through her delightful personality and beautiful music. Rea was a prominent community member of Centerville for many years where she served both her church and community tirelessly. Everyone in Centerville and surrounding areas knew Rea Manning and husband, Esley, as owners and operators of Manning's Country Grocery for nearly 40 years. Rea was also proud to have worked for the late Honorable Judge Hamilton Hobgood. Rea was an excellent cook and you never left her house with an empty stomach. She was noted for her exceptional fried chicken and homemade biscuits. She especially loved to cook for her family and friends. Rea is survived by her daughter, Jackie M. Kemp; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Brooke and Taylor Satterwhite; grandson, Hunter Kemp; and her great-grandchildren, Caroline and Jackson Satterwhite. Rea was a special gift from God to her family and friends. She faithfully fulfilled her role as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her family will forever hold her loving spirit within their hearts. The family received friends Monday, October 1, at Centerville Baptist Church and funeral services followed at 2:00 pm with Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
