FRANKLINTON--Marie Brodie Tharrington, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018.Services were held Sunday, Oct. 7, at Hawkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice Banks and Roy Lemuel Brodie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ed Tharrington; three children, John H. Tharrington, Lois Marie Tharrington, and Dorothy J. Terry; one grandson; a great-granddaughter; and nine siblings.

Surviving: one daughter, Annette Blacknall (Marvin) of Creedmoor; sons, John T. Tharrington of Durham, Wade Tharrington (Mary) of Hillsboro, and Michael Tharrington (Penny) of Yanceyville; sisters, Mary Harris (Lynwood) and Beatrice Green (John Thomas); brothers, Melvin Brodie (Estelle) and Earl Brodie (Margaret); nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
