RALEIGH--Michael Roy Varner, 61, died Friday, Sept.27, 2019 at his home. Funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jason Havens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born to Gwendolyn Finch Wheeler and the late Roy Rankin Varner. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Michael Wheeler.

In addition to his mother, Gwendolyn, he is survived by his daughter, Heather Nicolaisen (Eric); three grandchildren; brothers, Larry Varner (Bonnie), Roy Varner (Judy), Lin Varner (Paula), and Michael Wheeler (Joann); and a sister, Kim Kidd.
