FRANKLINTON--Mary Ann Spearman Coats, 92, of Franklinton departed this earthly life on December 8, 2019. She was born on April 11, 1927 in Cross Hill, SC to the late Robert Pearce and Florence Davis Spearman. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dewitt Coats, Sr.; her brother, John Robert Spearman, Sr.; and a nephew, John Robert Spearman, Jr.

Mary was a beautician; she worked for 3M Company and Durham Hosiery. She loved gardening, and various crafts. Mary was an excellent seamstress and an artist. She was a member of Franklinton Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian. Ms. Coats loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Fred D. Jr. and Hope Coats; and her daughter, Karen D. Coats, all of Franklinton; grandchildren, Eric Coats, Kevin Coats (Sonya), and Nicholas Edwards (Christy); and great-grandchildren, Jacob Coats, Kameron Coats, and Parker Coats.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Franklinton Baptist Church with the Reverend David Averette officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
