LOUISBURG - John Thomas Green, Jr. was born September 27, 1933 in Vance County, North Carolina.

He was the son of John Thomas Green and Jessie Faulkner Green of Henderson, North Carolina. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Dottie Green Wrenn.

He passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020, peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

John attended Edward Best High School and graduated from Warrenton High School. After serving four years in the United States Navy, he attended East Carolina University and graduated in 1960 with a degree in Industrial Arts. He enjoyed a long, successful career with the Franklin County School system and retired in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Patricia Stallings Green and their five children Charles, Patrick (Jenny), Laura Shanahan (Jack), Deborah Lambert (Darrell) and Hardy. Grandchildren are Kacy Tavera (Tony), Kyle Green (special friend Amanda), Patrick Green, Piper Green, Zach Lambert, Luke Lambert, Drew Lambert, Matt Green (Kelly) and Trenton Green. Three great-grandchildren Mia, Jaxon and Molly Tavera. And many nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church with Rev. Nathaniel Williams officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cedar Rock First Baptist Church 4879 NC Hwy. 56 E., Castalia, NC 27816.

John will be remembered for his strong faith, love of country and everything East Carolina University. He enjoyed watching college baseball and keeping up with all of his grandchildren's adventures.
