LOUISBURG--Ned Lloyd, 81, of Louisburg died April 23, 2020. He was the son of the late Jimmie and Annie Horton Lloyd. Ned was also preceded in death by siblings, Claude, Dorothy, George, Charles, Sallie, Bessie, and Jimmie Jr. Lloyd

Ned was a graduate of Nash and Vance-Granville Community Colleges and became a Louisburg police officer for over twenty-five years, part of which he served as Chief of Police. He was the first paramedic with Franklin County EMS, serving thirteen years. Ned served over twenty years as a volunteer rescue and fireman and was the continuing education instructor for first responders. He ended his public service career with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, working in the courthouse security program. Ned was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, choir member, and enjoyed keeping the grounds and cemetery.

Due to the pandemic and social distancing, graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jason Havens officiating.

Ned is survived by his wife, Jean Williams Lloyd; sons, Greg Lloyd (Rhonda) and Tim Lloyd; grandchildren, Scottie Gardner (Lauren), Mary Catherine Case (Joshua), Aaron Lloyd, and Nick Lloyd; great-grandson, Wesson Gardner; a sister, Ann Perkinson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
