BRENDA GAIL SMITH HOLLAND


HIRAM, GA--Brenda Gail Smith Holland, age 79, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020. She was born on July 14, 1941 in Paulding County, GA, to her late parents; Clyde and Cora Smith. Mrs. Holland was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Brenda spent most of her life loving and caring for Larry and her family. She worked early and helped Larry earn his degrees at Georgia Tech along with her own: Mistress of Husband Engineering or PhT (Putting Hubby Through). She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and spent over twenty years co-hosting Gospel Jams on Friday nights at Poplar Springs Baptist Church while playing the standup bass, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and autoharp. She had just begun learning the harp recently. She loved her grandchildren immensely and spent many hours with them - grand dogs, too! Brenda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Daughter of Clyde L. and Cora V. Smith; Married to Larry Don Holland by and in the house of Rev. C.R. Campbell on June 24, 1958; Brother to Steve L. Smith, wife Debbie Smith of Rome, GA with nieces and nephews; Children: Gregory Holland and wife, Kim from Palm Bay, FL; children; Justin Newberry and Amber Izzo; Robin Holland Ruda and Joel from Powder Springs, GA; children Holly and Kelly; Chris Holland and Stephanie from Hiram, GA; children Jacqueline, Nicholas, Madeline, Amelia, Christopher, and Zachary.

A Graveside Service for Mrs. Holland will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Paulding Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Meadows officiating. Serving as pallbearers will the following people; Nicholas Holland, Tom Baxter, Keith Davis, Gabriel Smith, Justin Newberry and Jeffrey Morris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service in person due to the state's Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time). If attending the visitation, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Holland safe.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church Debt Reduction program.
