CASTALIA, NC-Corinne May Leonard, 91, of Castalia and the Red Bud community, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. She was born on September 21, 1929 in Nash County, the daughter of the late Opie and Ilene May. She was preceded in death by her brothers Opie Jr., Robert Eric, L.C., Mickey, Royce and Alvin May.

Corinne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was raised and resided in, Castalia and was a graduate of Red Oak High School. Corinne was a faithful Christian, serving as a long-time member at Red Bud Baptist Church in Castalia. She worked for more than 20 years at Edward Best High School/Middle School cafeteria, where she retired as the cafeteria manager. She loved her flowers and working in her yard. Corinne was a fantastic cook. She was very generous and loved giving to the community. She was loved by everyone who met her and knew her.

Corinne is survived by her husband of 68 years, Staley Leonard, her children: Elwood E. Leonard, and his wife, Becky, Cora L. Mozingo and her husband, Mike, and Beverly L. Jeffreys and her husband, Vann; eight grandchildren: Cory Leonard and his wife, Pam, Kenan Mattsson and her husband, Jeremy, Jennifer Wingo and her husband, Brad, Heather Dodgins and her husband, Bryan, Marian Walters and her husband, Drew, Lacey McCarthy and her husband, Robert, Evan Mozingo and his wife, Sarah and Carter Mozingo; and seven great-grandchildren: Colton, Caroline, Dalton, Charlie, Jake, Nico, and Ward. She will also be dearly missed by 2 sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and her church family.

A drive-up graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 1:00pm at Red Bud Baptist Church cemetery. The public is invited. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Red Bud Baptist Church.
