ROCKY MOUNT - William Carl Collins, 74, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007. A gathering to celebrate his life was held Monday, Sept. 9, at Lakeside Baptist Church, with Dr. Jody Wright and Dr. Gaylord Lehman officiating.

Mr. Collins was born in Franklin County, son of the late Luther and Zeffie Collins. He was retired from Stallings Oil Company where he served as executive vice president of Marketing and Corporate Development.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Swannie Collins, Louise House, and Grace Shearin; and one grandson.

Surviving: his wife, Dozia Coley Collins; son, Chorey Collins (Sharon); daughters, Sue C. Scruggs (Mike) and Jackie Collins Skinner (Brett), all of Rocky Mount; brother, Maurice Collins of Tarboro; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
