LOUISBURG - Durwood Keith Champion, 66, of Louisburg passed away July 11, 2022. He was born on April 7, 1956 to Mary Murray Poole and the late Walter Edward Champion Sr.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lonnie Haywood Champion, Jeffery Champion and Michael Earl Champion.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Shugart (Deane) of Melbourne, Fla.; son, Nicholas Champion (Ashley) of Palm Bay, Fla.; brother, Walter Edward Champion Jr. of Pittsboro; sisters, Ivy Ayscue (James Carrol) of Louisburg, Kim Ayscue (Steve) of Castalia, Robin Martin (Bobby) of Louisburg, Carolyn Tharrington (Sherwood) of Louisburg and Jerri Champion of Louisburg; ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and burial at Murray Pernell family cemetery will be held at a later date.

Flowers and visitors will be accepted at the home of Marie Poole, 2519 Seven Paths Road, Louisburg.
