Elder Nathaniel Cooke
LOUISBURG, NC--Elder Nathaniel Cooke, born December 3, 1933 to the late Percy and Lucy Cooke, passed away at the age of 88, Monday, November 21, 2022 after a brief illness. Nathaniel, a native of Franklin County, left home at an early age to pursue a singing career with his hometown singing group, The Singing Stars of Louisburg. Consequently, the group became renowned and changed its name to The Brooklyn Allstars. They traveled all over the country singing and spreading the gospel through song. In his latter years, he returned to Franklin County where he resided until his death. He is survived by his two children: a son, Warner N. Cooke (Dorothy) of Charleston, SC and a daughter, Jean Clark (Craig) of Gaithersburg, MD; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022 from the Louisburg College Auditorium in Louisburg, NC. Burial will follow in the Mitchner's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklinton, NC. Viewing will be held at the Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Louisburg, NC 4-5 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022.
