LOUISBURG, NC -- Johnny McKinley Phelps, 72, of Louisburg, died Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 2023 at WakeMed.

Born November 9, 1950, Johnny was the son of the late Lucius Phelps and Bertha Shearin Moore. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Bartholomew Phelps; son, Timmy Phelps; great-granddaughter, Tenley Phelps; and step-father Charlie Moore.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Duke Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Johnny is survived his daughter, Heather Phelps (John Boydston); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Phelps.
