PEARCES - Thomas Wingate "Tommy" Strickland, 79, of the Pearces Community, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of the Pearces Community. He worked the family farm and owned a landscape business for many years. Tommy was known for his love of family, laughter, generosity and willingness to do anything to help his family, friends and neighbors.
Tommy was the son of the late Carey Delmas Strickland and Ethel Bennett Strickland. He was preceded in death by his son Martin Strickland, brother Carey Strickland, sister Mildred Strickland, and brother-in-law Mike Brooks.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Perry Strickland; daughters Jill Hicks and husband David, and Kelly Crenshaw and husband Per; sisters Martha Roberts and husband Alvin, and Nancy Brooks; grandchildren Zack Hicks, Austin Hicks, Spencer Hicks, Callum Crenshaw, and Charlotte Crenshaw; nephews Blake Strickland and Buddy Miles; and niece April Strickland.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Pearce Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommy's name to Pearce Baptist Church at 4634 Pearces Rd., Zebulon, NC 27597.
