Thomas Davie "Tommy" Dean October 30, 1942 - April 28, 2024
YOUNGSVILLE, NC -- Thomas Davie "Tommy" Dean, age 81, was born on October 30th, 1942 in Wake County North Carolina. He passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2024, to be with his Lord and Savior. Tommy grew up in Samaria in Nash County and has lived in Youngsville for the last 33 years with his loving wife Kay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Thomas Dean and Annie Pearl Richardson. And one special aunt Elgie Morgan. Tommy is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Kay Rogers Dean, daughter, Dawn Yates (Matt), stepdaughters, Krista Johnson and Missy Dodrill (Dan), grandchildren, Jacob and Caroline Yates, and step grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Jared and Sarah Dodrill, sister, Sue Sledge (George) and many nieces and nephews. He was a 3-Medal decorated Vietnam Veteran. Retired long distance truck driver. His truck driving career allowed him to travel the U.S. which he enjoyed. He took great pleasure in sharing the vast knowledge he gained in his travels to anyone who wanted to listen. Tommy loved his family and spending precious time with his grandchildren. After retirement you would most likely find him cutting his grass and others too, that was one of his many passions. He enjoyed working on his lawn equipment and his Kubota was his favorite. He also enjoyed fishing and sharing jokes with others and loved to play Farm Town on Facebook for many years. A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held at Bright Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 3:00 PM at New Hope Christian Church in Louisburg, NC. Burial will immediately follow at the cemetery of New Hope Christian Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Blessings Box at New Hope Christian Church. Paid obituary
