Lucinda Mize Ayscue April 09, 1943 - October 23, 2024
LOUISBURG, NC--Lucinda Rose Mize Ayscue, 81, passed away on October 23, 2024 at her home. Lucinda was born on April 9, 1943 in Granville County to the late Lenward Tyree Mize and Louvelle Stem Mize. In addition to her parents, Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thomas Ayscue, Jr.; and her brothers, Lenward T. Mize Jr. and Dr. Lou Stem Mize. Lucinda put family first. When her husband died in 1979, she lived for her children. She put their welfare and happiness before hers and made them her priority. She made sure they had every opportunity possible on a teacher's salary in the 1980s. Lucinda loved to travel and went on many trips to Europe, Asia, and across the United States with her family. She wanted her children and grandchildren to experience the world, its cultures, cuisines, and know that even though we are different, we are all God's children. Not only was Lucinda a loving mother and teacher at home, she was a school teacher in the Franklin County School System for 40 years. During her time in education, she taught high school music, elementary school reading, and Academically Gifted students. Teaching was her passion. She could teach anyone to read. Just like with her own children, she wanted to give her students great field trips and experiences. Over the years, Lucinda was very active in her church, loved playing bridge and mahjong with her friends, and enjoyed watching college basketball and football, professional tennis, and a good Hallmark movie. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Lucinda is survived by her daughter Laura Rigsbee (Wayne) of Louisburg; her son Paul Ayscue (Bénédicte) of France; her granddaughters Logan Rigsbee of Atlanta and Emilie Ayscue of France; and her sister-in-law Sandra Medlin of Franklinton. Along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much! A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Louisburg United Methodist Church. A private burial followed at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery.
