LOUISBURG, NC-- Shirley Griffin Shearin, 89, passed away on December 04, 2024. Shirley was born on February 05, 1935 to the late Lee Burt and Ruth Benton Griffin. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Bruce Shearin; and a son Alton Wade Shearin.

Shirley is survived by her children, Barry Shearin (Helen), Chuck Shearin, Debbie Carter, Mark "P-Nut" Shearin (Dawn), Ken Shearin and Amy Leonard (Jr.); her 13 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley faced numerous hardships and difficulties from her earliest years including the death of her father when she was 21 months old, her mother having a stroke while Shirley was a young child, and then the death of her husband leaving her to mother their children alone. These things, though tough, developed Shirley into a strong, independent , and widely respected woman who provided for her children. Shirley worked as a registration clerk at the hospital but she also baked cakes and catered for almost 40 years. There are many in Franklin County that had one of Shirley Shearin's cakes for a birthday or wedding. Shirley also enjoyed weekly Canasta games with her card group. Shirley was always particular about her appearance, making sure that her makeup, hair, and nails were always just right. She would not think of leaving home without being fixed to a T.

The family received friends from 2 - 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC 27549, where funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Burial followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.
