Washington, NC -- William Arthur "Butch" Strickland, age 78, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday, May 4, 2025 at The Service League of Greenville Hospice House.

Mr. Strickland was born in Franklin County on December 17, 1946 to the late C. Staley and Lois Sledge Strickland. On April 22, 2000, he married Susan Carol Bayol. Butch was a graduate of East Carolina University and received his graduate degree from the University of Central Florida. Mr. Strickland worked as a Real Estate Appraiser and retired in 2018. He was active with the Washington Housing Authority and WHI Board Commissioner. He was also actively involved in the Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Bayol Strickland, his son, William A. Strickland, Jr., his brother, Jeff Strickland of Raleigh, and his sister, Anne Smith of Louisburg.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Faye Griffin.

A celebration of life will take place in June, details to follow.
