LOUISBURG, NC -- Charles Robert Fenske, 72, of Louisburg, died Tuesday evening at his home following complications from colon cancer and kidney disease.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Chuck" S. Fenske and Jeanne Fenske Sims and stepfather, William Sims.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy C. Fenske; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Fenske-Anderson and husband, Russell Anderson; son, Lucas Fenske; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Scott Baldwin; several nieces and nephews.

He was a proud graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, where he met and married his loving wife Nancy, and remained a lifelong Tar Heel fan. He spent decades working at the local Revco, CVS and Family Pharmacies.

In his personal life, he spent over 30 years as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 555. He was especially proud when his son Lucas became an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed cooking for many different groups and causes, including LUMC brunswick stew, Boy Scout spaghetti, and others. He was a good band dad that grilled thousands of chickens while his daughter Sarah marched for the LHS Warriors. He loved Christmas and assisted Santa Claus for years in spreading holiday cheer.
