Doris Roberson Andrews April 11, 1942 - December 4, 2025
Doris Roberson Andrews, 83, peacefully slipped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2025. She was born in 1942 in Franklin County to the late Vera Joyner and Marion Lee Roberson and grew up as the oldest of five children. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of almost 58 years, William G. Andrews, and her sister Detra R Floyd. For over 25 years, Doris shaped young minds as a dedicated teacher and left an indelible mark on her students. Most of her teaching career was spent at her alma mater, Louisburg High School. Her passion for education was paralleled only by her commitment to her faith. As a devout Christian, Doris was an active member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and shared her musical talents as a pianist, touching the hearts of all who heard her play. She was an enthusiastic reader of books of all genres, including cookbooks. She loved to collect and try new recipes. She enjoyed music, especially classical music. Although life did not always allow it, she enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing. In recent years, she delighted in beach trips with family and friends. Above all, Doris's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her immense love for and dedication to her family. A devoted Christian, daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, she will be remembered for her warmth, love, kindness, grace, and gentleness. Doris is survived by her daughter Teresa and her husband James (Jimmy) McCall; her brother, Larry Roberson and his wife Annette; her sister, Christine Beidleman; and her sister, Deborah Valentine and her husband Donald; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church at 2960 Tarboro Road Youngsville, NC. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery.
