FRANKLINTON - Billie Higgins Collins, 77, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 24, at Franklinton Baptist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Rigney, Charles Stratton Jr. and David Averette officiating. Entombment took place in Fairview Cemetery, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.

She was born in Alleghany County and was retired from Westinghouse Corp. She enjoyed cooking for family, friends and those less fortunate.

Surviving: two sons, Robert Michael Collins of Virginia Beach, Va., Billy Warren Collins (Linda) of Wendell; sisters, Mildred Chappell and June Reeves (Floyd); three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Junior Collins; her father, Taft Higgins; her mother, Grace Greene Higgins Rector; stepfather, Roy Rector; and her son, Dennis Stephen Collins.
