FRANKLINTON - Joe Louis Townes, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Saturday, Feb. 23) at New Bethel Baptist Church in Warrenton. Burial will follow in the Kings-Burchette cemetery in Warrenton.

He was born in Warrenton to the late Frank A. Townes and Mable King Townes.
Surviving: daughters, Priscilla Jones (Jeff) of Raleigh, Jacquelyn (Stephon) of Germany, Veronica Townes of Chicago, Ill., and Wylanda Townes of Zebulon; brothers, the Rev. Ernese Townes of Franklinton, Matthew Townes of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Larry Townes of Youngsville; sisters, Ann Acevedo of Raleigh, Gearlean Singletary of Gainsville, Va., and Vernese Townes of Franklinton; and 14 grandchildren.
