J. LINWOOD KEITH


WAKE FOREST - Joel Linwood Keith, 89, died at his home on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 27) at Rolesville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Walter “Doc” and Myrtle Keith. At the age of 17, he married Elizabeth Marshall. He began his working career by delivering milk to Pine State in Raleigh for his wife’s father, who was a dairy farmer. He also drove a cotton truck (later purchasing his own trucks), and during WWII, he worked as a welder in a Florida shipyard.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Marshall Keith; a young son, Linwood Keith Jr.; sisters, Janie Pearl Mangum and Goldie Cooke; and brothers, Carlton Keith, Rufus Keith and Wesley Keith.

Surviving: his children, Barbara Kearney (Lewis), Faye Gay (Jessie), Sue Hill (Dan), Joel Keith (Wanda); brothers, Clifton Keith of Fuquay and Willard Keith of Wake Forest; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
