FRANKLINTON - Robert S. Pender, 64, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg. Services were conducted Tuesday, May 30, in the Cutchins Memorial Chapel in Franklinton, with the Rev. Mattie Crudup officiating.

He was born in Franklin County to the Mary Lizzie Jeffries Pender and the late Andrew Lee Pender. Mr. Pender was employed by the City of Raleigh until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Hartsfield Pender, and one brother, Charles T. Pender.

Surviving: his mother, Mary Lizzie Pender of Franklinton; sisters, Mary Tharrington (Ulysses) of Creedmoor, Brenda Parker of Butner, Willie Mae Pender and Harriet Walker, both of Franklinton, and Winifred Pender of Raleigh; brothers, Issac Pender (Ann) and Wilbur Pender (Reneé), both of Franklinton; and six stepchildren.
