ZEBULON - Mrs. Virginia Bridgers Armstrong, 83, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at her home. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 25, at Massey Funeral Home in Zebulon. Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Zebulon, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bridgers, former mayor of Zebulon. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Zebulon United Methodist Church, a church her father helped build.

She was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine B. Jones, Ruby B. Hudgins, and a brother, Bob Bridgers.

Surviving: her daughters, Nancy Kelley-Burne of Okinawa, Japan, and Elizabeth A. Leftwitch of Maryland; son, Bruce Howard Armstrong of Louisburg; sister, Linda B. Johnson of Zebulon; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
