YOUNGSVILLE - Russell Carlton Edwards, 78, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Rex Hospital. A memorial service honoring his life was conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 15, at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He was born in Franklin County, son of the late Jodie Cheaves Edwards and John Russell Edwards. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired bookkeeper.

Surviving: daughter, Lisa Patterson (J.W.) of Youngsville; fiancée, Cora Helen Driver of Henderson; sister, Jean Collins of Smithfield; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
