WAKE FOREST - Lizzie Mae Winstead Murray, 89, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at Wake Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 25, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest, with the Rev. Melvin McGriff, the Rev. Glenn Hawley and the Rev. Earl West officiating. Burial followed in the New Life Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.

She was born in Nash County, daughter of the late Illa Hopkins Winstead and Samuel F. Winstead. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lee Murray; daughter, Rachel Morris; son, Ronnie Lee Murray; sister, Dolly Whitley; brothers, Leon Winstead, Frank Winstead and Lancey Winstead.

Surviving: daughters, Vernell Frazier of Alert, Judy Barham of Wake Forest, Joann Murray and Brenda O’Dell, both of Burgaw, and Portia Poole of Raleigh; sons, Ray Murray of Wilmington and Charles Murray of Clinton; a sister, Jean Leslie of Goldsboro; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
