RALEIGH - Lillian Mitchiner Stephenson, 98, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 2008. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today (Saturday, Nov. 15) at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street. After the service, the family at home will receive relatives and friends. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Severn Cemetery in Northampton County.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Emma and Walton Mitchiner. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College in 1932, and she was a North Carolina Century Farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Moring Stephenson, and a brother, Watson Mitchiner.

Surviving: daughters, Susan L. Stephenson of Raleigh, Patricia S. Koppels (Chuck) of Woodbury, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
