RALEIGH - Mary Louisa Pope Hancock, 46, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 from heart complications. Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 23, at North Wake Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Trotter officiating. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Born in Norfolk, Va., she was the daughter of Mary and Kerney Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Hancock.

Surviving: sons, Brian Thomas (Nicole) of Wake Forest and Kevin Lewis of the home; parents, Mary and Kerney Hayes of Raleigh; paternal grandmother, Fannie Hayes of Louisburg; brothers, Lewis Pope (Lisa) of Louisburg, Thomas Pope (Kathy) of Raleigh, Michael Pope (Laura) of Tennessee and Steven Hayes of Youngsville; and one granddaughter.
