DONALD E. JAMES SR.
YOUNGSVILLE — Donald Earl James Sr., 67, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 13, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Zanesville, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at Louisburg United Methodist Church at a later time.

He was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., and spent all of his life in Zanesville, Ohio, until moving to North Carolina in 2006. He served eight years in the Ohio National Guard where he was called to active duty during the Berlin Buildup. His career included 19 years as the Muskingum County dog warden. He retired in 1996 and served in ministry with his wife, the Rev. Anita James, in Zanesville and Urbana, Ohio. He was a member of Louisburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving: his wife, Anita Marie Young James; sons, Donald (Susie) James of Youngsville, Dana (Melissa) James of Zanesville, Ohio; a daughter, Amy (David) Krec of Youngsville; sisters, Carleen (Bob) Burwell, Rita (Mike) Ziegler, and Mary Jo Emory, all of Zanesville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl A. and Dorothy E. (Kirk) James; brothers, James Eugene James and Gerry Lee James; and a sister, Beverly Ann James Kitinoija; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Louisburg United Methodist Church.
