RALPH S. TANNER SR.
LOUISBURG - Ralph S. Tanner Sr., 84, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at Wake Medical Center. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home,  Wake Forest, with the Rev. Bill Boyer officiating.

He was born in Franklin County, VT, the son of the late Emma Fleury and Henry Tanner.  He was an entrepreneur and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II in the Army Engineers. 

He was preceded in death by his sons, Ralph Tanner Jr. and Russell Homer; sister, Hester Tanner; and brother, Lawrence (Sonny) Tanner.

Surviving: his wife, Theresa Riley Tanner; children, Sandra and John Sivewright of Orangeburg, SC, Linda and Brian Rand of Selkirk, NY, Rachelle (Shelly) Tanner and partner Chris Godwin of Madrid, NM, Edmund and Jill Homer of Minthill, NC, Cathy and David Bove of Winter Haven, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX  75231.
