ELAINE D. BARBEE
YOUNGSVILLE — Elaine Delbridge Barbee, 86, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at her residence after a period of declining health. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 28, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Shannon Scott officiating. Burial followed in the Southeastern Theological Seminary cemetery.

She was born in Wendell, the daughter of the late Ruby and Albert Delbridge Sr. of Rocky Mount. She was preceded in death by her former husband, James Russell Barbee Sr., and a brother, James Albert Delbridge Jr.

Surviving: daughters, Ann Russellene (Micky) Story of Newton, Peggy Leigh Barbee of Wake Forest, Rebecca Lynn (Jim) Sherrer of Wake Forest; sons, James Russell (Judy) Barbee Jr. of Wake Forest and David Albert (Beverly) Barbee of Clover, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
