CALVERT LEE BATT SR.
CASTALIA - Calvert Lee Batt Sr., 70, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. A service to celebrate his life was held Monday, Oct. 19, at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, with Dr. Carleton McKita officiating.

He was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Earl Edwin Batt Sr. and Ellen Peters Batt. He was co-owner/manager of the Rocky Mount News Agency and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his son, Calvert Lee Batt Jr.; his first wife, Patricia Ann Batt; and a sister, Marie Norman.

Surviving: wife, Alice Stallings Batt; son, Michael K. Batt (Nicole) of Castalia; stepsons, Joe Stallings Jr. (Lisa) of Nashville, Gene Stallings (Elizabeth) of Castalia; sister, Audrey Lawrence of Fredericksburg, Va.; brothers, Earle Edwin Batt Jr. of Atlantic Beach, William “Pappy” Batt of Fredericksburg, Va., Pete Batt of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
