SID CHAMPION
September 17, 1927 – March 27, 2010
LOUISBURG – Sid Champion, 82, of the White Level Community, passed away Saturday morning at the home of his daughter.

Sid was a son of the late Charlie and Alice Leonard Champion. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Idalene C. Champion; son, Joe Swanson; and brother, Vann Champion. Sid was long-time owner and operator of Sid Champion’s Store and a farmer for many years. 

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wes Bailey officiating. The family received friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the Wester Family Cemetery.

Sid is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shelba J. Champion; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Marshall Lewis of Louisburg; son, Bob Swanson of Wilmington; grandchildren, Chris Peoples and wife, Jodi, Mary Ray and husband, Randy, William Swanson and wife, Beth; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Landon Peoples, and Nicholas Swanson; niece, Brenda C. Bryson of Wilkesboro.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Building Fund, 402 NC Hwy. 561, Louisburg, NC 27549.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
