FRANKLINTON— Leon Woodlief, 80, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Hospice House of Wake County. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, June 19) at Franklinton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Averette, the Rev. Clyde Waiden Jr. and the Rev. Daniel Jenks presiding.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Flora Henly Woodlief and James Elbert Woodlief. He was a long-time member of Franklinton United Methodist Church and was employed with Burlington Mills before his retirement. He served in the United States Army as a tank commander in the Korean War.

Surviving: nieces, Cindy Mobley (Don) of Franklinton and their daughter, and Anna Parrish (Tony) of Louisburg and their two children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Woodlief.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, Attn. William Dunlap Center for Caring, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607; Franklinton United Methodist Church, 109 N. Main Street, Franklinton, NC 27525; or Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
