GENE “TOOTIE” STRICKLAND
ZEBULON - Gene Oakley “Tootie” Strickland, 75, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Wake Med. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 20) at Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 N. Arendell Ave., Zebulon. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Rocky Cross Baptist Church cemetery, 13452 Burgess Road, Middlesx.

She was born in Wake County to the late W. A. Oakley and Irene Cates Oakley. She worked in the Education Department of NC State Government.

Surviving: son, David Strickland (Debra) of Zebulon; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Strickland; son, Craig Strickland; one granddaughter; seven sisters and three brothers.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597.
