FRANKLINTON —Ophelia Hawkins “Boot” Harris, 81, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 2, at Kinches Chapel Christian Church, Franklinton, with Elder Dannie Williams officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Chester and Rebecca Pettiford Hawkins.

Surviving: daughters, Betty L. Lawrence (Fred), Alma J. Williams, Annie M. Blacknall (William), all of Franklinton, and Mable Wortham (James) of Creedmoor; sons, Hubert (Jenny), Oscar, Donnie, Eddie and William Harris, all of Franklinton, and Buddy Jones of Youngsville, who she raised as her son; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Harris; daughter, Roxie Vernell; son, Robert Harris; sisters, Bessie, Rebecca, Oza, Doza, Susie; and brother, Chester.
